Uche Fuels Dominant Crystal Palace Victory at Shelbourne.

Despite embarking on their maiden European campaign, Crystal Palace are adapting at a rapid pace. Without star figures like forward Jean-Philippe Mateta and defender Daniel Muñoz, the Eagles departed Dublin with a comfortable win that virtually secures them a spot in the Conference League qualifying rounds.

Another victory in their upcoming fixture against Finland's KuPS should be enough to secure direct entry to the last 16, particularly after a prior stumble against Strasbourg.

Squad Members Grasp the Moment

This match provided a chance for several Palace's lesser-used talent to impress. Christantus Uche, making only his second start since arriving on loan from Getafe, opened the scoring with a clinical finish. Striker Eddie Nketiah contributed a second, scoring for the second game in succession.

A Shelbourne team that had concluded their league season were no match even for a mostly second-string Palace outfit. The visitors were already depleted by the news that Mateta and Muñoz are sidelined with knee injuries.

Control Established from the Outset

In spite of torrential rain in Dublin, Palace quickly established dominance. A slick move in the 11th minute, sparked by Daichi Kamada's incisive pass, let Nketiah to set up Uche for a simple finish.

Midfielder Adam Wharton came close minutes later, fizzing a powerful shot over the bar. Nketiah subsequently appealed for a penalty after bursting into the box, but the official dismissed the protests.

Ex-Arsenal man did not have wait long to get his goal, prodding home from close range after Uche's effort had struck the post.

The home side were clinging on for dear life. Full-back Kameron Ledwidge was fortunate to escape a booking for two robust challenges on Yeremy Pino, before Chris Richards rattled the woodwork with a powerful header from a corner.

Pino Seals the Contest

The match was as good as over eight minutes before half-time. Yeremy Pino weaved past some weak challenges before calmly slotting a shot past goalkeeper Wessel Speel to make it 3-0.

Following the break, manager Oliver Glasner took the chance to rest several players like Kamada and Wharton. Replacement Romain Esse almost scoring his first touch, but saw his effort blocked.

Esse was desperately unlucky later on, seeing one attempt crash off each posts before being clasped on the line. Uche also missed a glaring chance, showing there is still room for development in his game.

A solitary concern for Palace was a second-half knock to Justin Devenny, who was forced off. This allowed 17-year-old striker Benji Casey to earn his first-team debut, rounding off an otherwise positive night for the traveling side.
