The President has scrapped preparations for a deployment of government forces to the Northern California that had sparked broad criticism from California leaders and brought protesters gathering in the city centers.
The region had been concerned after news emerged that the leadership was ready to send more than 100 border control and additional officers to the US Coast Guard base in across the Bay, as part of a extensive immigration enforcement plan.
However, the president declared he would not move forward with a “surge” of federal forces in the region after conversing with the mayor, the mayor, and Silicon Valley executives including tech executive and technology leader.
“In that conversation, the president informed me clearly that he was canceling any plans for a government dispatch in this municipality,” city leadership stated in a release.
