Over a fortnight subsequent to the heartbreaking passing of renowned film director Rob Reiner and his partner, photographer Michele Reiner, the entertainment community persist in remembering the pair.
Writing on Instagram, actor Cary Elwes, who was featured in Reiner's iconic movie *The Princess Bride*, explained he only now felt prepared to post publicly about his profound loss.
"Sufficient time has gone by that I can now put my grief into words," shared Elwes, adding that his initial encounter with Reiner left him smitten. "When we commenced sharing more moments together I realized this was someone I desired in my life."
The actor shared never-before-seen clips from the movie, commenting that he could not remember "a single day without laughter".
"This story is about devotion, fidelity and selflessness. Principles that Rob held dear. That is part of the many reasons he was the ideal person to helm it," Elwes expressed.
He also paid tribute Michele Reiner, noting: "Asserting that they were a great team would be an understatement. My heart still hurts every time I recall you." He ended with a phrase from *The Princess Bride*: "Sure, death cannot stop true love but existence is agony without you."
In a separate essay, legendary director Martin Scorsese also honored Reiner, whom he originally knew in the 1970s.
"From the start, I loved spending time with Rob. We had a instant connection for each other. He was hilarious and sometimes bitingly funny, but he was never the kind of guy who would command the room," Scorsese wrote.
Scorsese mentioned Reiner's acting part in his 2013 film *The Wolf of Wall Street*, playing the father of the protagonist.
"He could improvise with the best. He was a expert at comedy, he worked wonderfully with everyone, and he understood the human predicament of his character," Scorsese added.
This week, a Los Angeles judge ruled to prevent the release of the Reiners' post-mortem findings, at the request from the LAPD.
A legal directive put a security hold on the investigation to limit the public release of "related notes, evidence and photographs" pertaining to the ongoing investigation.
The coroner's office had already determined their deaths were the result of homicide, with a record noting the cause as "wounds from an edged weapon".
In the wake of the tragedy, public figures expressed different comments.
Ex-President Donald Trump commented on the matter, providing controversial claims that were broadly criticized by many public figures.
Podcaster Joe Rogan contributed his voice to the detractors recently. Talking on his program, Rogan described the remarks as "disturbing" and remarked they showed a concerning lack of empathy.
Rogan ended by suggesting that an associate could have intervened when the impulse to weigh in on the passing was made.
