The Showrunner Discloses He Knows How The Apple TV+ Show Will Conclude... For Now.

The creative mastermind could not have predicted that his new science-fiction series would emerge as a massive hit. “God bless the fans,” Gilligan says. “I did not foresee the show being as widely discussed as it is, and it makes me thrilled beyond words.”

As the debut season of the popular series reaching its finale—and Season 2 officially in the works—Gilligan and his team opened up about the viewer reception and whether it will influence the storyline of Pluribus.

Regarding the Incredible Audience Reaction

One could easily to get sidetracked by the rampant praise and fan theories surrounding Pluribus. Gilligan, however, is making a conscious effort to steer clear of all that.

“It's like being an endless supply of your favorite dessert and being tickled to death,” he says. “It's amazing, but I get wind of it from others, and that's by design. Not once have I searched for my own name online, nor do I ever want to. It's not a lack of interest. It's a bottomless pit I know I would disappear down and then I'd be living in squalor from Home Depot and I'd rarely emerge from my living room.”

Despite his concerted efforts, there’s it's impossible to ignore the immensely favorable response to the series. The only approach for the writers is to accept it graciously and try not to let it dictate the story of the show.

“We don't try to change the plot,” says writer and executive producer Alison Tatlock. “The plot we develop is not changed by online forums.”

“We prefer to keep our noses to the grindstone,” Gilligan adds.

The Big Question: Has the creator Have a Plan for the Finale of Pluribus?

So if the writers are not listening by fan response, does that mean they already know how Pluribus will finally conclude? Essentially yes… with some caveats.

“We've developed some potential directions about the ultimate destination,” he states. “but we are always ready to discard a decent plan for a more brilliant plan. That philosophy has guided us in excellent shape on Better Call Saul and on Breaking Bad even before that. We throw stuff out when we find a more perfect path and I suspect we'll be doing that.”

Then again, if plans fall through, Gordon Smith has a pretty funny idea to serve as a last resort.

“I keep pitching that everything takes place within a snow globe, and that we'll zoom out in the finale and that's where they've been all along,” Smith quips, “but nobody's taking me up on that.”

Alternatively, why mess with the iconic TV endings?

“My dream is Carol to awaken next to Bob Newhart,” Gilligan adds, smiling.

Pluribus can be watched on the streaming service.
