The carrier to provide complimentary high-speed onboard connectivity through Starlink agreement

Passengers aboard this carrier are set to use quick internet in the air at no cost due to a new deal involving Elon Musk's communications provider.

Free and Fast Internet Across the Board

British Airways revealed that this free, “quick and reliable” connectivity provision via the satellite provider becomes offered to passengers in economy, premium economy, and first class as of the coming month.

Widespread Rollout Over Multiple Airlines

The holding firm of BA, the airline group, confirmed it had secured an partnership with Starlink to provide wifi coverage across more than 500 jets operated by its operators, such as the Irish airline, Iberia, plus Vueling.

Uninterrupted Internet starting at Gate to Arrival

BA noted that the introduction for the system formed part of a multi-billion pound “upgrade” initiative that will offer smooth connectivity service to passengers from the gate to arrival, also when traveling over large bodies of water and remote regions.

Passengers will be able to link several electronics and do not require a special access code.

Existing Wifi Services

Basic internet service is currently offered for BA travelers on most of the airline's aircraft via their .air service.

Participants in the airline's reward scheme are able to transmit messages plus plain-text correspondence during flights at no cost, while travelers who want to access audio, movies, and content throughout their flight if not flying in first class can expect to be charged between four pounds ninety-nine and ÂŁ21.99 for one internet package.

Starlink’s Infrastructure

The provider operates a network comprising thousands with orbiting devices and it's run by SpaceX’s aerospace firm.

Ongoing Upgrades at British Airways

The airline's executive team have been working to turn British Airways around following a period of budget reductions, technology issues, labor disputes, plus large-scale layoffs.

The airline noted that use with smart technology contributed to them to achieve their timeliness at peak performance since 2012.

Profit Performance

Recently, British Airways disclosed a jump in operating profits for the first half recently, helping to push the parent company earnings higher.

The group will announce the earnings for Q3 recently on Friday.

Other Satellite Partnerships

This update comes days following telecom operator the telecom firm revealed it was partnering alongside the satellite provider to enhance cellular connectivity in the countryside of the UK, by allowing consumers to easily hook up mobile devices using satellites when no standard cellular service exists.
