President Approves Measure to Release Additional Jeffrey Epstein Records Following Months of Resistance

The US leader stated on late Wednesday that he had approved the bill resoundingly endorsed by US legislators that mandates the federal justice agency to disclose more documents related to the convicted sex offender, the dead pedophile.

This decision arrives after weeks of resistance from the chief executive and his political allies in Congress that fractured his political supporters and caused divisions with various established backers.

The president had resisted releasing the related records, labeling the matter a "fabrication" and railing against those who attempted to publish the files available, notwithstanding promising their release on the political campaign.

However he changed direction in the last week after it become clear the House would pass the legislation. Trump said: "We have nothing to hide".

It's not clear what the department will release in as a result of the measure – the measure specifies a range of possible documents that should be made public, but allows exclusions for specific records.

The President Signs Legislation to Force Disclosure of More Epstein Documents

The bill calls for the top justice official to make public related files open for review "available for online access", including all investigations into Epstein, his associate his accomplice, travel documentation and journey documentation, people cited or listed in connection with his crimes, institutions that were tied to his exploitation or money operations, immunity deals and further court deals, internal communications about charging decisions, documentation of his confinement and death, and particulars about possible record elimination.

The department will have thirty days to submit the files. The measure includes certain exemptions, such as deletions of victims' identifying information or individual documents, any descriptions of child sexual abuse, publications that would endanger ongoing inquiries or prosecutions and representations of death or abuse.
