The New England Patriots matched their top unbeaten stretch since the Brady period as they overcame AFC East rivals the New York Jets 27-14 in professional football

First-year standout TreVeyon Henderson was the standout with three touchdowns as the New England squad claimed an eighth straight win for the first time since star signal-caller Brady's closing campaign with the franchise in the 2019 season

Signal-caller Maye passed for 281 passing yards and a TD, connecting on 25 passes from 34 throws

The win extends the New England's lead at the summit of the division as they moved to nine victories against two losses, with the Jets at the foot after dropping to two wins and eight losses

The Jets had scored first at Gillette Stadium with QB Fields running in a five-yard touchdown to finish the Jets' first possession

But the New England answered in the second period as Henderson ran in two short rushing scores before the running back caught a pass from Maye at the back of the end zone midway through the third period to push the score to 21-7

"That was a big time for him stepping up, and it's been fantastic for him to keep getting these reps," the quarterback commented on the rookie. "He aims to be excellent."

Fields connected with Metchie in the latter part of the third quarter to reduce the lead for the Jets but Andy Borregales converted a two kicks in the final period as the home side closed out the win
