'Our Mission Consists of Exclusively Executing' - The Way Sudan's Ruthless Paramilitary Group Carried out a Massacre

Alert: This Report Includes Explicit Details of Shootings.

Combatants smirk as they travel on the back of a transport truck, hurrying alongside a line of nine lifeless forms and moving towards the descending African sun.

"See such work. Observe this act of genocide," a fighter exclaims.

The fighter smiles as he points the recording device on his person and his fellow militiamen, their RSF insignia clearly shown: "These people are all going to be killed in this manner."

The combatants are celebrating a mass killing that relief organizations suspect killed more than two thousand individuals in the Sudanese urban center of el-Fasher last month.

An Urban Center Severed from the World

Having held the urban area under siege for approximately 24 months, from late summer the militia advanced to strengthen its position and blockade the leftover civilian population.

Orbital photography reveal that troops started to erect a massive berm - a raised sand barrier - surrounding the boundaries of the city, sealing off entry points and preventing humanitarian assistance.

As the siege escalated, 78 people were murdered in an militia attack on a place of worship on 19 September, while the UN said 53 more were slain in aerial and heavy weapon strikes on a displacement camp in fall.

Graphic Footage Reveals Unarmed People Executed

In the early morning on October 26th the militia conquered the remaining army defenses and took control of the main compound in the city, the main facility of the Military Unit, as the military retreated.

Among the most disturbing videos to appear and examined showed the consequences of a atrocity at a university building on the western side of the city, where numerous corpses were observed strewn across the area.

An elderly person wearing a robe remained isolated surrounded by the bodies. He rotated to glance as a combatant armed with a rifle moved descending the staircase facing the individual. Raising his firearm, the shooter fired a one round at the man, who dropped to the surface still.

"For what reason is this individual even alive," a combatant shouted. "Execute this one."

Orbital photography recorded on late October appeared to confirm that executions were also carried out on the thoroughfares of al-Fashir, according to a report released by the university analysis team.

An observer who spoke reported he had witnessed "many of our family members being executed - they were assembled in one place and each one murdered."

RSF Commanders Try to Carry Out Reputation Management

During the period that ensued from the killings, militia leader acknowledged that his fighters had committed "wrongdoings" and stated the incidents would be looked into.

Part of the arrested was after a analysis recording his killings. Carefully orchestrated and modified footage shared on the RSF's formal Telegram account show him being led into a prison room at a jail on the edges of the city.

At the same time, the paramilitary force and associated social media channels started seeking to alter the account.

Posts presenting its combatants handing out aid to residents were disseminated by various individuals, while the militia's communications team released numerous clips claiming to demonstrate the proper management of army prisoners of war.

In spite of the digital effort being deployed by the RSF, their conduct in the city have sparked global anger.
