Iran Claims Attack on American Facility in the Kingdom of Bahrain, During Widespread Military Operations.

Iran's military claims to have hit a US naval base in Manama, as Iran launched missile attacks throughout the Middle East in retaliation for a significant and ongoing attack against it by the US and Israel.

Large columns of dark smoke were observed billowing from an area close to the command center of the American Fifth Fleet in Manama, Bahrain. The full scale of any destruction is unclear and the United States has yet to issue a statement.

Regional Interceptions

Elsewhere across the region, the UAE, Qatar and Kuwait - each hosting American military installations - said they have engaged and destroyed missiles in their air space.

In Doha, Qatar's defence ministry said it had successfully engaged a number of projectiles seemingly aimed at the al-Udeid air base, the biggest US military installation in the Middle East.

IRGC Statement

Iran's Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) stated it was attacking American facilities and interests as part of operation "Truthful Promise 4", in reprisal for the attack on Iran launched by the United States and its ally Israel on Saturday.

That preceding assault - executed at around 06:15 GMT - has so far targeted areas associated with the Iranian leadership, with US President Donald Trump encouraging the Iranian people to revolt against the government.

In the State of Israel, sirens were heard nationwide after the Israeli military stated it had identified an barrage of missiles from Iran.

The defence ministry of the United Arab Emirates stated that the nation has been targeted by a "a blatant attack involving Iranian ballistic missiles".

"Emirati air defenses dealt with the projectiles with great effectiveness and shot down a number of missiles," the statement continued.

Officials reported wreckage fell on a neighborhood in Abu Dhabi, resulting in some property damage and the death of one civilian.

The United States Air Force is stationed at the Al Dhafra base, to the south of Abu Dhabi, along with the UAE Air Force.
