The Scottish side kicked off their European journey in ideal fashion with a crucial four-try away victory against Sale.

Taking advantage of the wind at their backs, the hosts started the brighter and built a 14-0 advantage within the first quarter. Tries from the Sale skipper and teenage debutant Ollie Davies put them in command.

However, Glasgow responded admirably with a pair of scores before the interval. Forward Gregor Hiddleston and back-rower Rory Darge both crossed to narrow the deficit.

Further second-half scores from Kyle Steyn and centurion Stafford McDowall extended Glasgow's advantage to twelve points. Marius Louw's try for the hosts promised a tense finale, but Glasgow stood strong to secure a significant first-round victory.

Warriors Take Control Following Half-Time

The match started with a quick try as skipper Van Rhyn drove over from short distance after only two minutes. An early injury to centre Ma'asi-White brought teenager Ollie Davies into the fray for his European debut.

The youngster made an instant impact. Moving to fly-half, he ran a smart angle to collect an offload and score, making Sale's lead.

Facing difficult weather, Glasgow turned to their set-piece to get back into the contest. A strong driving maul was finished by hooker Gregor Hiddleston. Just before the break, Darge forced his way over, with Adam Hastings' conversion making it a narrow deficit at the interval.

Glasgow seized the lead for the first occasion soon after the second half. A misjudged box-kick was gathered by No. 8 Dempsey, who set up skipper Kyle Steyn to burst through a challenge and race away to the line.

With in the ascendancy, they clinched the bonus point when McDowall powered past a tackle to score his century for the club. This try completed a sequence of 26 unanswered points.

The hosts found a lifeline when Marius Louw used neat skills to score. The kick made it a five-point game with minutes left.

One last opportunity arose for Sale from a throw in the corner, but they failed to secure the ball, confirming Glasgow's victory.
