Police have made public shocking video showing a motorist executing dangerous drifting maneuvers around a roundabout during an illegal car meet, placing onlookers at serious danger of harm.
An individual aged 23 from Southampton received a 27-week prison sentence, suspended for one year, after admitting to dangerous driving.
In addition, the judge imposed a one-year license suspension and mandated community service along with a rehabilitation program.
According to police officials, the video was captured at an unauthorized automobile gathering in Portsmouth on December 28th, 2024, featuring the individual operating a pink BMW.
“The video demonstrates the alarming moment when a reckless driver drifted on a traffic circle at an illegal vehicle event, as crowds watched ignoring the risk of serious injury.”
Police representatives reported that over 200 offences related to unauthorized vehicle events in the region have been addressed in approximately 12 months.
Notable figures from the enforcement effort comprise:
A police sergeant remarked: “Residents, motorists and our traffic officers have had enough with these groups of drivers selfishly taking over public roads and car parks and we will not tolerate it.”
The officer continued: “They are not only a total disturbance, but they also place themselves and innocent bystanders at risk of serious injury.”
He finished: “We will continue to prosecute these drivers and I trust these recent cases act as a caution: you won’t get away with it.”
