A review has uncovered that nearly 90 flights linked to the late financier Jeffrey Epstein reportedly landed at and took off from UK airports, with some reportedly having onboard British women who claim they were victimized by the convicted sex offender.
These aviation records were part of thousands of court documents and files made public by Epsteinās estate that have been released over the past year. The review uncovered 87 flights connected to Epstein ā including many that were not previously known ā coming into or leaving from British airfields between the early 1990s and 2018.
Unidentified women were documented among the travelers entering and exiting the UK. Notably, 15 of these UK flights occurred following Epsteinās 2008 guilty verdict for procuring prostitution from a underage person.
āIt was āastonishingā that there had never been a āfull-scale UK investigationā into his activities in the country,ā remarked US lawyers acting for hundreds of Epstein survivors.
Testimony from one of the UK-based survivors was instrumental in convicting Epsteinās associate Ghislaine Maxwell of child sex-trafficking in the US in 2021. But, that survivor has not been approached by British law enforcement, according to her attorney based in Florida.
In a response, the London's Metropolitan Police said they had ānot received any additional evidence that would support reopening the probe.ā They noted, āIf fresh and pertinent evidence be brought to our attention, encompassing any resulting from the release of material in the US, we will assess it.ā
A bill to disclose all files held by the US government in regarding Epstein was approved by the House and Senate last month. The US justice department has until 19 December to comply. A vast number of documents are projected to be made public.
In a related development, a US judge ordered last week that the DOJ could disclose investigative materials from a trafficking prosecution against Maxwell, Epsteinās close friend, who is currently serving a 20-year jail term over the charges.
